Knossos Palace

The heart of Minoan civilization and the capital of Minoan Crete. Knossos flourished 4000 thousand years ago and it was a major center of trade and a hub for the economy which maintained ties with the majority of cities in the Eastern Mediterranean.  The Minoan palace is the main site of interest at Knossos, an important city  partially reconstructed by Arthur Evans. In the palace you will have the opportunity to admire  large palace buildings, extensive workshop installations, and luxurious rock-cut cave and tholos tombs that you will keep fond memories of, after visiting Crete.

Heraklion Archeological Museum

The archeological museum of Heraklion is home to a large collection of Cretan antiquities. Its cultural richness spans seven millennia, from the Neolithic period (7000 BC) to Roman Times (3rd cent AD) and the exhibition is housed in 27 rooms.

The celebrated Minoan art is featured through thousands of objects. Among the most spectacular are the famous faience Snake Goddesses, the stone bull’s head rhyton, the Prince of Lilies and Bull leaping frescoes and the enigmatic Phaistos disk.

Heraklion Center

Heraklion is the capital and biggest city of the island of Crete. Walk through the busy and beautiful city center and choose from plenty of cafes and restaurants to relax and enjoy your meal. Heraklion is also the shopping center of Crete, enjoy your shopping in the numerous stores you will meet while walking there. In terms of sightseeing, don’t miss the hidden Venetian and Turkish architecture, the famous “Krini Morosini” (Lion Square fountain) and the “Koules” venetian castle.
